Job Description Summary
Orientation Leads work with the Office of Student Engagement, Orientation Coordinator, and other Orientation Leads to coordinate and implement various aspects of the Stonehill Orientation experience, including but not limited to spring and summer Orientation Leader (OL) training and Summer and Fall Orientation. A student serving in this role will develop the following important leadership traits:

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Orientation Leader Selection
  • Assistant in the process of recruiting and development of the OL Selection Process
  • Serve on the OL Selection Committee
  • Orientation Leader Training
  • Assist in the creation of spring, summer, and fall OL Training, including social events, educational sessions, and logistics
  • Be an active member in all aspects of training
  • Supervise an assigned group of Orientation Leaders by providing recognition and feedback, supporting position expectations, and serving as a guiding resource.
  • Family Orientation
  • Assists in coordination of summer registration, for both student and family registration, including handling the process for late check-ins
  • Serve as the main student contacts for all aspects of the family portion of Summer Orientation, including serving on panels, mingling with families, and leading sessions.
  • Program Development
  • Assist in the design and implementation of programs introducing new students to Stonehill in a way that supports their social, physical, and intellectual well-being
  • Contribute to the process of decision-making regarding Orientation, and assist in the assessment of Orientation programs, processes, and events
  • Communication & Marketing
  • Assist with social media announcements and reply as needed to inquiries and messages from incoming students and family members
  • Foster communication with Orientation Leaders and be available to answer questions
  • In conjunction with the rest of the Orientation Core Team, prepare and manage summer mailings, welcome packets, and other printed Orientation materials.
  • Other:
  • As needed, perform office functions as required in the Office of Student Engagement, including answering phones, responding to emails, planning events, completing data entry, and other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in the interview and selection process of the following year’s Orientation Core Team
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and good disciplinary standing as determined by Student Affairs
  • Previous experience as an Orientation Leader
  • Attendance at all aspects of Orientation trainings and events
  • Take part in NODA Graduate Assistant interview process
  • Availability to be back on campus during the scheduled times for trainings and Orientation
  • A mindset and commitment to improve and change aspects of the overall Orientation program and OL training
  • Attend the NODA: Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention regional conference in late February
