Position Information Title Summer Housing Assistant Position Description The Office of Residence Life & Housing (RLH) provides a safe, inclusive, & quality residential experience where access to programs, services, & staff fosters a sense of community in an environment conducive to learning. The Housing Assistant (HA) provides support to RHL. This position’s areas of assistance include but are not limited to administrative tasks, support to summer conferences, and special projects. Expectations for Housing Assistants are the following: Be familiar with all rules and regulations of the residence halls, and of the university Be committed to providing excellent customer service to guests Show dependability and willingness to work a flexible schedule Exhibit accuracy and attention to detail Ability to perform light physical tasks Ability and willingness to work as part of a team Act as a role model and, as such, abide by the rules and regulations of the University, and of their individual living environment. Be aware of the impact that a HA’s behavior plays in matters of rights and responsibilities Assist in offering concierge services to groups at varying hours of day/night Make appropriate referrals to university resources or personnel Educate guests concerning university emergency procedures and rules and regulations as necessary Listen to others and respect the rights of all residents and guests by observing confidentiality except where it would result in harm to a student, to others or to university property. Act as a team member. Be caring, supportive, and respectful of each other at all times, and willing to render assistance or support as needed. Accept and support differences in working styles The Housing Assistant (HA) willl have the following administrative & community building responsibilities: Attend all staff meetings as required by the Associate Director of Housing Operations/ RLH Provide support to the main office as needed including but not limited to answer office phones, greeting and assisting guests, and performing lock outs. Be available and know proper procedures for check-ins and check-outs. Check BSU email daily. Assist with the early arrival process in August. Assist with any orientation program needs as directed by the department. Assist with summer conference programs, including keeping an updated, accurate and complete roster of all conference guests Bring all requests for repair to the attention of the Associate Director of Housing Operations for the specific building Assist in maintaining the general condition of the buildings Assist with completing inventories of the residence halls Be available during emergency situations to assist in assuring safety and security of residents and guests Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Housing Operations. Preferred Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Bridgewater State University in both the Spring 2026 and Fall 2026. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Must be in satisfactory disciplinary status as determined by the Office of Residence Life and Housing. Must be reasonably familiar with academic programs, University and Residence Life and Housing policies and procedures, as well as resources and activities available at the University.
