Job Summary

-Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records. >br<
-Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach. >br<
-Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. >br<
-Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked. >br<
-Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. >br<

Additional Job Details (if applicable)
- Obtain full set of vital signs and record on vitals sheet and in Epic. Report any abnormal finding to the appropriate clinician
- Review all medications with patient and make sure it is accurate and up to date in including dosage, frequency and route.
- Confirm that all allergies, contraindications, reactions and severity of allergy are up to date and reviewed in Epic.
- Perform pulmonary function testing (PFT), oximetry (SaO2) and 6 minute walk tests as needed. Document all results in Epic as appropriate.
- Manage patient flow in clinic by rooming patients, facilitating room turnover and communicating effectively on the clinic schedule board.
- Arrange hospital transport or assist in transporting patients to various departments as needed. Liaison between departments in the hospital and clinic for patient care. Arrange ambulance transportation as needed.
- Clean all exam rooms between each patient with the appropriate wipes and ensure that supplies are adequately stocked
- Assist MD/PA with all office procedures including Thoracentesis. Label and prepare any patient specimen for processing and coordinate with transport to ensure that it brought to the appropriate lab before end of day
- Remove stitches, staples, steri-strips and dressings as directed by MD.
- Clean and re-dress dressings and feeding tubes as directed. breathing treatments to patients in clinic as needed and directed.
- Prepare clinic for opening: Daily calibration of PFT/Oximetry equipment, thermometers, scales and maintain logbooks. Daily check of medication refrigerator for medication amount, expiration dates and temperatures. Verify exam rooms are clean including the floor and stocked including linen, all lights are working, all schedules are posted, consult/MD offices are prepared, phone messages have been taken off, cabinets are unlocked, and clinic list is given to radiology liaison.
- Prepare clinic for closing: verify all exam rooms are cleaned and restocked. All cabinets are locked, all sharps containers are checked for volume, all computers are shut down and logged off.
- Create daily schedule on Magnatag board for following clinic. Print clinic schedules and post in designated locations.
- Prepare all paperwork for Attending to sign is ready for the next day.
- Responsible for ordering all clinical supplies including respiratory and linens. Ensure adequate supply of forms.
- Send equipment for sterilization. Verify all equipment, supplies and medications are not expired.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Practice Manager and/or MD/PA/NP, including all generally accepted office functions such as faxing, scanning, and mailing.
