Job Summary
Summary: Responsible for all the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of all general instrumentation. The Central Supply Processing Inventory Tech II must be able to assemble case carts with the required supplies and instrumentation per the surgical pick list. Must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy in the products. Does this position require Patient Care No
Essential Functions:
-Assists with maintaining adequate instrument inventory levels and communicating needs.
-Assembles specialty case carts as pick lists require, sends completed case carts to the OR, and returns unused supplies from the OR to proper inventory.
-Maintains adequate par levels of products, both common stock and special order items, in a cost-effective manner, and rotates stock.
-Assembles instrumentation for sterilization following the set count/instruction sheet.
-The set must be inspected for function, defects, cleanliness, and overall condition.
-Performs decontamination procedures in accordance with prescribed specifications, safely and cost-effectively.
-Disassembles instrumentation and processes it according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
-Addresses damage/repair of instrumentation upon arrival in the decontamination area and reports to supervisor/manager.
-Maintains adequate levels of sterile stock prepared in CPD for the sterile storage/case cart assembly area.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or C.S.P.D.T - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. required
Experience: Instrument Tech experience 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Processes specialty and general instruments.
- Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledgeable of all facility cleaning procedures and agents used during the cleaning process.
- Knowledgeable of the MSDS and maintains book according to CDC, AORN, TJC, state, and federal standards.
