Job Description

CNC Process Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize machining processes for multi-axis CNC (3&-5 axis, Swiss, mill-turn)
  • Create and troubleshoot CNC programs using CAM software (Mastercam, PartMaker or similar)
  • Design workholding, tooling, and machining strategies for new and existing parts
  • Support quoting with cycle time estimates, tooling requirements, and cost inputs
  • Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve quality
  • Collaborate with machinists, inspection, and production teams to ensure successful part execution
  • Interface with customers and vendors on technical requirements, materials, and secondary processes (heat treat, anodizing, grinding)

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in CNC process engineering within a machine shop environment
  • Experience with multi-axis machining, including Swiss and mill-turn applications
  • Proficient in CAM programming and interpreting complex prints/models
  • Knowledge of tooling, fixturing, and secondary operations
  • Solid understanding of metrology, tolerances, and process capability
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and process-related issues on the floor
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience in CNC programming/process development
