In this role, you support the development and production of high-quality proteins, including enzymes and antibodies, that enable QIAGEN’s mission of making improvements in life possible. Working in an ISO 13485 regulated environment, you contribute hands-on to protein purification processes while collaborating closely with experienced scientists and technicians. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys laboratory work, values precision, and is eager to grow technical expertise in a production-oriented setting.
Your tasks include
  • Execute development- and production-scale protein purification processes according to established procedures.
  • Perform column chromatography using ÄKTA Pure and ÄKTA Pilot systems.
  • Carry out upstream process steps such as homogenization, cell lysis, and centrifugation.
  • Analyze samples using chromatograms, UV spectroscopy, and SDS-PAGE.
  • Pack, test, and evaluate a variety of chromatography columns.
  • Prepare buffers and solutions with a high level of accuracy and documentation.
  • Support small-scale bacterial fermentations in a controlled laboratory environment.
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Foundational understanding of column chromatography and protein purification techniques.
  • Experience (1–3 years) in life sciences, laboratory work, or ancillary production environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO-regulated environments (e.g., ISO 13485) or strong motivation to learn.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Office applications; experience with SAP is an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with meticulous record keeping.
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours when required to complete laboratory activities.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $50,000–60,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes a commission plan, annual bonus, and generous benefits.
